David Ricketts
Biography
David Ricketts is a Los Angeles based producer, composer and multi instrumentalist.
With songwriting partner David Baerwald, Ricketts gained notoriety and cult status as David & David. Their 1987 A&M debut Boomtown received lavish critical praise and widespread airplay, but the rigors of constant touring brought the curtain down on David & David as a recording/touring act.
Deciding that record production, arranging and composition were more his metier, Ricketts went on to compose for and produce acclaimed albums for Toni Childs (Union and House of Hope). He also produced Meredith Brooks Blurring the Edges album which yielded the notorious top 10 hit “Bitch.” Legendary guitarist and songwriter Robbie Robertson tapped David to collaborate on Storyville, Robertson’s second solo album. Ricketts also produced the debut album for Matthew Ryan.
Ricketts and Baerwald later reconvened on the multi-platinum Sheryl Crow debut Tuesday Night Music Club.
Ricketts played bass & co-authored “Leavin’ Las Vegas,” “Strong Enough” & “The Na Na Song.”
In the film world, David’s material has also been used in the soundtracks to Thelma & Louise and Echo Park.
A proficient musician, David is equally at home playing electric & acoustic guitar, bass, keyboards or arranging strings for movie underscores. His drum programming is so realistic that Jim Keltner once remarked he would rather not replace David’s programmed drums with his own playing! In a world where the majority of record producers come from the ranks of engineers, David is a songwriter, composer & arranger.
David is available for music production, co-writing and film scoring.
